Where Every Dot Tells a Story

Some of my earliest memories are of soft dawn light spilling across the doorstep, the feel of fine kolam powder between my fingers, and my mother’s steady hands moving gracefully across the ground.

Those white lines weren’t just designs—they were moments of peace, patience, and devotion. Every morning, as her kolam came to life, it felt as though our home itself had taken a deep, happy breath.

As a child, I was mesmerized by that magic. I drew kolams whenever I could—on weekends, festival days, and especially throughout the month of Margazhi. I would wake up before sunrise, spend long hours creating colourful kolams in front of our house, and lose myself completely in the rhythm of dots and lines. Even during exams, I somehow found time to draw—that quiet joy was something I couldn’t let go of.

My mother taught me kolam in the most beautiful way—step by step, dot by dot. It never felt difficult or repetitive. It felt like play, meditation, and celebration all at once. Over time, I began filling a special notebook with my hand-drawn designs—a personal collection that grew as my imagination expanded.

But as life took me to new cities for university and work, that morning ritual slowly faded. The change of place, the rush of time, and the distractions of screens replaced the calm of early dawns. Yet, the love for kolam never left me—it simply waited quietly, ready to return.

Years later, I began drawing again—and it felt like coming home. The colours, the symmetry, the stillness—everything I had missed returned in that first pattern. I started sharing my kolams online, not expecting much. But then something beautiful happened—it was no longer just my story. People from different walks of life began to connect with them. They told me my kolams inspired them to start drawing again, to sit with their children and teach them, to rediscover their own quiet calm through this timeless art.

That’s when I knew—this was more than art. It was a calling.

And now, Dotify is the destination for that feeling—a dream space dedicated to translating the beauty of kolam into tangible, joyful products. Here, you’ll find not just books, but also kolam-inspired products designed to bring the same joy into everyday life—whether it’s a stamp, a tool, or a piece of art that celebrates our shared culture.

This isn’t just my brand. It’s a continuation of countless hands that came before—mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters—all leaving their mark, one dot at a time.

Every product I create is made with the hope that it brings you a little closer to your roots, a little closer to peace, and a little closer to that simple joy of creating something with your hands and heart.

Because in the end, kolam isn’t just something we draw.
It’s something we live.

Design. Create. Celebrate.
Art that starts and ends with a dot.

With love,
