A Ritual of Sacred Symmetry, Stillness and Balance

Begin with a Dot. Create Your Own Rangoli Bookmark.

Discover the calming beauty of traditional Pulli Kolam through Samatva, a complete DIY dotted-rangoli bookmark-making kit designed to bring together mindful tracing, creative colouring and functional art.

In Tamil tradition, Pulli means dot—the still point from which every line, pattern and possibility begins. Unlike the continuous interlaced pathways of Sikku Kolam, dotted rangoli grows through conscious connections between individual points.

Each Samatva bookmark guides you through the seed-and-sprout method, beginning with simple dots and gradually unfolding into intricate geometric blooms.

Trace the light-grey guides, connect the dots, add colours that reflect your mood and finish each creation with a silky tassel. Your completed artwork becomes a beautiful handcrafted bookmark that you can use, treasure or gift.

Printed on ultra-thick 400 GSM premium cardstock, the bookmarks are durable, satisfying to work on and designed to minimise ink bleeding.

Trace, Colour and Make Your Own Bookmarks

1. Select Your Phase

Begin with Phase 01: Presence and gradually progress through the nine designs.

Each phase introduces a new level of detail and complexity, allowing beginners to build confidence without facing the pressure of a blank page.

2. Find the Still Point

Locate the central seed dot on the bookmark.

Pause for a moment and allow your attention to settle before beginning the design.

3. Follow the Breathing Rhythm

Use the suggested inhale–pause–exhale rhythm to slow your movements and prepare your mind for the activity.

Let each traced line flow gently rather than rushing to finish the design.

4. Connect the Dots

Use the black fine-point marker to trace over the light-grey guidelines.

Connect each point with steady, deliberate strokes as the dotted grid gradually develops into a complete rangoli pattern.

5. Infuse the Pattern with Colour

Once the main structure has been traced, colour the shapes and spaces using the 12 vibrant pens.

Choose colours that reflect your mood, energy or intention for the day.

6. Complete Your Reflection

Turn the bookmark over and respond to the mindfulness prompt.

Record what you noticed through sound, sight or touch, note your practice time and circle the mood that best reflects how you feel.

7. Track Your Progress

Mark the corresponding phase on the Series Guide Card after completing each bookmark.

Watch your collection grow from a single seed dot into an entire series of colourful rangoli creations.

8. Add the Final Tassel

Allow the ink to dry completely, then thread a silky tassel through the pre-punched opening.

Your handmade bookmark is now ready to hold your place in a favourite book and remind you of the peaceful moment in which it was created.

The Meaning of Samatva

Samatva represents balance, steadiness and inner equilibrium.

Every rangoli in this collection begins with a dot—a point of complete stillness. As the dots connect, they form rhythm, symmetry and movement.

The activity is a reminder that meaningful growth does not always begin with a grand gesture. Sometimes, it begins with one quiet point, one conscious breath and one carefully drawn line.

The Resonance Series

The nine progressive designs take you through different stages of creative and mindful practice.

Each bookmark includes its own theme, breathing cue and reflective prompt. Together, they create a structured journey from simple awareness to deeper focus and personal expression.

The tenth card serves as your Series Guide, allowing you to record your progress, moods and completed phases.
